About Hexham Male Voice Choir
Who Are We?
The Choir was formed in May 1948 with the ethos to foster and encourage male voice singing. Seventy years later that core mission has not changed and we actively encourage men of all ages from all walks of life to come and sing with us.
The organisation is non-profit making and exists with the aid of members subscriptions and voluntary donations. We support a wide range of charitable causes throughout the North East, and are happy to help organisations to put on fund-raising concerts (we normally ask for a small fee to help choir funding).
New members are always welcome. Why not join us and discover the enjoyment of singing within our friendly group. We rehearse every Thursday night throughout the year (with the month of August off) from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. at West End Methodist Chapel, Shaftoe Leazes , Hexham, NE46 3DF

Our Musical Director
Ray Taylor
Ray joined us in March 2022 as a Tenor, bringing a wide range of experience singing in different groups, including Hexham Amateur Stage Society and the Northumbria Chamber Choir. And before returning to his home town of Newcastle, he started his own choir in Derbyshire called Chameleon, singing a variety of musical styles.
As an accomplished pianist, Ray has sometimes played for our rehearsals and stood in to lead the choir when needed.
Ray became our Musical Director in March 2024, and has ambitions to develop the musical skills of the members and expand our repertoire.
